Our August 2020 issue highlighted some of the interesting public opinion research being done in Asia related to COVID-19. Unfortunately, it looks like COVID-19 will continue to be with us for some time. The changes brought about by the pandemic, such as more people working from home, and inequalities in society made more salient because of COVID-19 will still be with us when the pandemic ends. Therefore, we expect that researchers will still continue to explore this issue. We want you to know that we are interested in continuing to publish new perspectives on what shapes attitudes, behaviors, and public policies related to COVID-19, as well as research that confirms previous findings, or papers that explore public opinion on what the future will look like post-COVID-19.
We also know that public opinion researchers in Asia continue to face a number of challenges related to methodology, especially in countries where face-to-face interviews were the norm pre-COVID-19, and so we hope to also continue to see papers with novel research methods or solutions to newly encountered challenges.
Of course, we continue to welcome papers related to public opinion research in Asia on other topics. As a reminder, papers related to public opinion in or about any Asian country or countries can be considered. Topics may include, but are not limited to:
• Quality of life
• Political polling/elections
• Media studies
• Health
• Science/risk
• Social networking/big data
• Survey methodology
• Analysis of public opinion polls on any topic
